During this season which ended on October 15th there have been over 2,600 visits recorded at Sataseitti, which is 600 visits more than last year. Fine excursion weathers were reflected as an increase in boat and canoe rentals. Fishers kept diligently active, too. We were especially delighted by a salient growth in the numbers of hikers from abroad, and noted visitors arrived here from at least nine different foreign countries. Based on different observations there have also been more people activated to move along the entire REITTI trail network than in recent years, therefore we can conclude already in this stage that the hiking year 2006 has been an especially successful one, even though the cool hiking days of autumn and early winter, which are the best in the opinion of many, are still ahead, indeed. Present prospects are that Hikers’ Info Centre Sataseitti will open its doors to the public again in April-May 2007. We will keep on regularly informing you about things related to hiking and ecotourism in the Pori Region on this REITTI Home Page, also in the future. 4.7.2006 New Article: On Joutsijärvi of Kullaa Paddling It is most pleasant to enjoy the peace of Joutsijärvi’s nature on a beautiful summer day. Information about the regional private 12.6.2005 New article about River Lamprey In Southern Finland, lamprey stocks have strongly declined, but you still can catch this provincial "fish" of Satakunta to be enjoyed by the gourmets at Kokemäenjoki, and indeed sooty roasted lamprey is a much appreciated seasonal speciality on the autumn table of the bon-vivients in Satakunta.
